Textbooks

New Era Junior School follows a CBSE approved curriculum that is in accordance with New Education Policy 2020. The textbooks used for the learning-teaching process in the New Era Group of Schools are in compliance with the syllabi prescribed by the National Council of Education, Research, and Training (NCERT).

While the senior and senior secondary classes strictly adhere to NCERT textbooks, the junior classes are sometimes prescribed books from other publications, keeping in mind that they adhere to the curriculum and norms laid down by CBSE.

Uniform and Identity Card

The students in the playschool are allowed to wear any neat and school appropriate fancy dresses, along with fancy shoes and handkerchiefs. The school uniform is introduced from Standard I onward and is mandated to be worn by all the students at all times while attending classes. Students are also mandated to always look presentable with neatly cut and combed hair, including the sideburns. It is also advised that students’ nails are kept short and that they strictly follow the school dress code to maintain hygiene and discipline.

  • Girls (Std. 1 to Std. 10th): Dark blue tunic, off-white half sleeved shirt, blue shorts, black shoes and blue socks, school belt, I-card & school tie.
  • Girls (Std. 11th & 12th): Dark blue Sameej and White Salwar with Dark Blue Dupatta.
  • Boys: Dark Blue Full Pants (Std. 1, 2, 3- Half Pants), off-white half sleeved shirt, black shoes and blue socks, I-card and school tie.
  • Winter Wear: Full sleeved shirt, full pant, Blue Cap/Scarf, Blue Sweater/Cardigan/Blazer
  • For P.T. Days: Sports Uniform as per House Color assigned with tennis shoes and white socks

Attendance, Leave Rules & Withdrawal

All students must comply with the school’s rule of maintaining 85% attendance each academic year while also ensuring to attend the last and first day after and before any vacations allowed by the school, such as summer holidays, puja holidays, and winter breaks. The application for each leave must be submitted a day prior with a countersign from the ward’s parents and approved by the school authority. The school has the authority to make the decision to strike off a student’s name after repeated absences or unexplained leave for six or more days. Students are allowed a maximum of three days of holiday to attend the wedding of a sibling. Special leaves can be availed of in cases of mourning. No leave requests shall be entertained through fax/email unless they are extremely important. All the leave applications must be signed and submitted by parents in advance for approved leaves. In case of withdrawals, an application must be made to the Head of School thirty days prior to the date the student would be discontinuing from the institute. The withdrawal request will only be approved when the notice is served on time, subject to the payment of all school dues.

Scholarship

To honour the founder and the first Director of the New Era Group of Schools, the late Shafi Ahmad, the school and its management have taken the collective initiative to offer scholarships to students with exemplary merit. The decision to introduce the scholarship since the academic year 2022-23 was taken to provide monetary aid to students whose annual family income is less than one lakh eighty thousand.Each year, the applications for the scholarship are open from April 9 to April 19. Students must produce an income certificate provided by the Government of Bihar in order to avail of the scholarship. The scholarship is completely provided solely on the basis of merit. The list of students to receive the scholarship is final and won’t be revised on any terms.

Parent-Teacher Meetings & Progress Report

Parents are advised to always attend the regular parent-teacher meeting in order to be informed of their ward’s performance and progress in academics and extra-curricular activities.

The school conducts two terminal examinations each academic year for all the classes, along with two periodic tests for each subject before the terminal exams. Parents are advised to sign the progress report in order to always be informed about their ward’s academic progress. Students will only be promoted to the higher classes on the basis of their annual academic performance.
